HOCKEY CLUBS FOR SCHOOLS

Fun and inclusive girls and boys hockey clubs delivered by trained and experienced coaches at your school

PRIMARY SCHOOL HOCKEY CLUBS

Introduce your pupils to the exciting world of Hockey! Our primary school after-school Hockey clubs give children the chance to pick up a stick, learn a new sport and develop their skills through plenty of time on the ball.

Open to girls and boys aged 5–11, our sessions cover the foundations of Hockey, from stick control and dribbling to passing, receiving, shooting and tackling. Children gradually put these skills into practice through challenges, activities and small-sided games, with sessions tailored to suit the age and experience of the group.

Whether Hockey is already part of your school’s sporting programme or you’re looking to introduce pupils to something completely new, our coaches can provide a weekly after-school club that gives children more opportunities to play, practise and enjoy Hockey.

WHY CHOOSE HOCKEY?

Hockey gives children the opportunity to master a completely different set of skills to many traditional school sports. Controlling and moving a ball with a Hockey stick requires focus, precision, coordination and practice, making every new skill a rewarding achievement.

As children become more confident on the ball, they also begin to develop their awareness of space, anticipation and ability to make decisions under pressure. Hockey is very much a team game, successful play relies on pupils moving for one another, communicating, sharing the ball and recognising how their role contributes to the wider team. It’s an excellent way to challenge children both physically and mentally, while encouraging persistence, confidence and a willingness to keep practising until a new skill clicks.

about PLAY SPORTS JUNIORS after school sessions

Girls and boys of any ability can expect to gain valuable Hockey experience over planned, weekly extra-curricular sessions during term-time. Aimed at school years 1 to 6, Play Sports Juniors helps develop agility, balance, and coordination through a mix of games, physical activities, and skill-building exercises, split into KS1 and KS2 after-school groups.

For Play Sports Juniors, one of the most important things to us is promoting the social side of sport and the sense of belonging to a team. Playing in a team has huge personal, social and emotional benefits and we firmly believe that there is a sport for everyone.

If children can have positive experiences of sport during their time at school, they can bring these experiences into their adult lives, continuing to stay active and enjoy taking on new sports and challenges in the future.
