NETBALL ACADEMY COACHES
OUR COACHES
One of the most important things we promote through our Academies is the social side of sport and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a team. We firmly believe there is a sport for everyone. By giving children positive experiences of sport from a young age, we hope to help build a relationship with physical activity that continues into adulthood.
We are proud of the high standard of coaches that work across our Netball Academy and Play Sports Juniors school clubs. We select PSJ Netball Academy Coaches that have a strong background in netball, ensuring each session always has at least one qualified netball coach. Coaches will not only possess the skills and knowledge required to teach the game but also have a genuine passion for helping young players develop.
IN SESSION
Our coaches understand that children develop at different rates and arrive at our Academies with different levels of experience. Sessions are therefore designed to be inclusive, encouraging and appropriately challenging, helping every player progress from their own starting point.
The core of our Academy programme is planned ahead of each term, giving players a structured pathway for development while allowing our coaches the flexibility to adapt sessions to the progress and ability of their group.
Weekly sessions combine warm-ups, skill development, games, team activities and match play, with coaches using an approved bank of age-appropriate activities.
Match play is an important part of learning, giving players the opportunity to put their developing skills into practice and improve their understanding of the rules. Our coaches adapt their officiating and guidance to the age and experience of the group, helping players learn without taking away from their confidence, concentration or enjoyment.
SAFETY
Each coach will have passed a 2-stage interview, and will fulfil our compulsory training before they are able to start coaching. Every coach will have passed and will hold: First Aid Training, DBS Checks & Safeguard training.
Our coaches are responsible for bringing the necessary equipment and First Aid Kit to every session. This includes bringing either a tablet, or work-phone which holds the register, medical information, and contact details for the children.
